An unusually good casebook
By A Customer
Let's face it--casebooks are usually pretty dull. But this one is different. First, the cases are more modern than anything else out there (sure, there are a few unavoidable classics, like Palsgraf, but most are from the past 20 years) and they cover topics of interest to today's students. Second, the questions at the end of each case are actually USEFUL! Having been involved in legal education myself, I've seen a lot of casebooks, and most of the end-of-case questions are boring and unhelpful at best. Goldberg et al. provide questions that are thought-provoking and add a great deal to one's understanding of the cases, so much so that I would advise readers to skim the questions before reading each case, and then devote some time to answering them afterwards. You'll be surprised how much you benefit from doing so.
Finally, the book begins with an in-depth analysis of one single case, in which the authors introduce the reader to each aspect of tort law in one fell swoop. By taking this approach, the authors toss out the time-honored method of keeping the student largely in the dark until, at the end of the class, things finally (sort of) come together. Instead, they introduce the concepts ahead of time so that the student can actually recognize, for instance, respondeat superior when she sees it later on. Helping the reader, instead of hindering her, is a novel concept in the legal casebook world and will be a welcome change for those fortunate enough to be assigned this book.
All things considered, this is a really first-rate casebook with a unique modern slant!

Can you say Palsgraf?
By Brook Lynne
We all know that trial lawyers, and especially personal injury and malpractice litigators, are ruining this country...running our great Nation into the ground and just driving W bonkers. So if you think tort law is getting just a "little too frisky," Goldberg, Sebok, and Zipursky will set you as straight as the day is long. This case book presents an amazingly clear, concise, and well-organized format of caselaw, policy implications, notes and questions. Before long, you too will be looking out for barrels rolling out of windows, patients eating laperotomy pads, and kooky barge mishaps...you will never again walk down the street without watching a potential slip and fall, knowingly wagging your finger, and declaring, "That's a tort!"

This text book will change the way you view the world...though it's only in its first round of publication, those in "the know" believe it will do for tortfeasors what Darby did for bootstrapping.

But, you don't have to take my word for it!

Torts casebook
By J.L. Populist
I ordered this book as a supplement to my paralegal studies.
This book has a wide array of cases with opinions form prominent jurists such as; Cardozo, Hand, and Holmes.

The field of tort law is a growing, complex, and changing field of law. The editors successfully covered all of the major sections of tort law. There is a lot of explanatory material that I found easy to understand. It doesn't read like a stuffy textbook. Very well-written and organized.

If you are looking for a complete casebook on tort law, this is the book to get!
