Substance

This book is excellent. A step-by-step guide on how to write like a lawyer. I graduated from McGeorge law school 12 years ago, and this is the one book that I kept and still use. The writing techniques and tricks are pure gold. I'm suprised this book's not more popular, but glad I can get a replacement copy if needed.

Thorough, Informative, Clear

I have seen Mike Fontham in action, and believe him to be one of the most effective advocates in the United States. He and his coauthors bring to this book a wealth of courtroom and classroom experience, enabling them to help the advocate--experienced or aspiring--to focus not only on technique but also on the ethical and legal bases for what he or she may (or cannot) do. I don't know that there are any better or more thorough single-volume treatments.

I bought this because my legal writing professor required it, but we haven't done anything with it the whole semester. I imagine it is helpful for students, however I'll be selling this back.
