Only game in town...

Unfortunately, this book is the pretty much the only game in town for a law school class on financial institutions. It covers the theoretical subject matter well, but falls short as a practical guide. The book is also heavily tilted toward the national banking system. More information on state banks would be much appreciated. Finally, despite being only a few years old, several sections feel rather dated. I hope the authors think seriously about the implications of the current financial crisis and update the next edition accordingly.

Do not rent it because new regulations, such as Dodd-Frank Act, let this book inefficient at all. The 5th edition is the appropriate one.
